We’re back with April’s recap, and we’d like to once again thank all of our collaborators and team members for their consistent efforts to bring services and resources to the county and individuals and families who need it. No one can fight this disease alone. Together, with experience, strength, hope, and a common goal, we have a chance.

If you know someone in Essex County who needs recovery support or services, or a family member who needs help supporting a loved one, please reach out to us at 978-961-7388.

RESOURCES AND SERVICES DATA

ECO worked with local police departments and other community partners this month to bring services and resources to Essex County residents, housed and unhoused. Here are some numbers from our activity in April of 2025.

Rides provided: 37

For clients who are not able to access services and resources due to transportation barriers, ECO provides rides to destinations such as detox, IP/OP treatment, clinics, AA/NA meetings, the hospital, court, doctor’s appointments, and other recovery-related appointments.

Outreaches conducted: 78*

ECO conducts outreaches via phone, in person, alongside police officers, at shelters, on the street, in the community, at community events, through service projects, etc.

Clients who accepted services: 42*

As happened in March, over half of the individuals we reached this month accepted services.

Follow-ups/client engagements: >250*

After an initial outreach, ECO follows up to engage with clients and ensures they are properly connected to services and resources. It is our hope that clients will utilize ECO Recovery Coaches long-term; in many cases, this happens. Due to the hard work of our team and collaborative efforts, we consistently have high numbers of follow-ups and engagements.

*These numbers do not cover all ECO regions served. We are working to reflect all regions in future data recaps.

We want to thank all of our community partners and every police officer who joined us on outreaches and follow-ups. This is a huge team effort. We are grateful that we’re able to access and support so many people across the county.

APRIL EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

For more events and news, visit our Facebook.

In April, the Essex County Outreach Recovery Coach team was proud to participate in several re-entry fairs hosted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. Our coaches visited multiple facilities to connect with individuals preparing to return to their communities, offering support, resources, and hope for a successful transition. We were honored to attend events at the Women in Transition (WIT) program, the Farm (men’s pre-release facility) in Lawrence, the Middleton House of Correction, and STAR (Supporting Transitions and Re-entry) in Lawrence.

Transition and re-entry programs like the ones we’ve listed above offer several benefits for the individuals involved and our community and society as a whole. By providing support and resources, these programs help individuals successfully transition back into their communities, lowering recidivism rates and improving public safety. They provide services, such as job training, housing assistance, health care, and substance use treatment, which help former inmates restore and rebuild their lives as members of families, workforces, and communities.

Partnerships with various agencies and community supports and programs are critical for the effectiveness of re-entry and transition efforts. We’re so grateful for all of our partnerships, and our outreach efforts with these programs reflect our continued commitment to walking alongside individuals on their journey to recovery and re-integration.
