ECO Launches Weekly Men’s Support Meeting in Salisbury

Beginning November 10, a new weekly gathering titled Mens Monday Night Madness will offer men in the community a confidential space for connection, reflection, and personal growth. The meetings will be held every Monday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the ECO office (82 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA).

Organized with a commitment to anonymity and mutual respect, the group aims to foster a supportive environment where men can explore themes of responsibility, resilience, and self-improvement. The guiding principle of the group is captured in the quote on the meeting flyer by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: “To be a man is, precisely, to be responsible.”

Why is a men’s support meeting important for our communities in Essex County?

Mental Health Benefits

Men are often taught to suppress emotions, which can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, and even substance abuse. A support meeting like Monday Night Madness provides a safe space to express feelings without judgment.

Reducing Isolation

Many men experience isolation, particularly during life transitions such as divorce, job loss, or retirement. Addiction and mental health challenges can intensify that sense of isolation. Monday Night Madness provides connection and camaraderie, helping participants feel understood and less alone.

Healthy Coping Mechanisms

Men may resort to unhealthy coping strategies like aggression, alcohol, or drugs when dealing with challenges or difficult emotions. Monday Night Madness offers a healthy way to manage stress through discussion, accountability, and mentorship.

Peer Guidance and Mentorship

Often, we learn best from peers who have faced similar challenges. Come meet role models and mentors who will help you navigate relationships, work challenges, sobriety, personal development. Whatever madness it feels you’re facing, with a tribe behind you encouraging and guiding you along the way, you can learn how to take the next necessary steps.

There is this and much more at Monday Night Madness. All men are welcome. No registration required. Just show up.
